Karlheinz Stockhausen: Kontakte – Originale

Karlheinz Stockhausen, who would be 90-years-old in 2018, created a ’musical theater’ (musikalisches Theater), a Fluxus happening, in 1961. He used his own piece written for piano, percussions and quadrophone electronics, entitled Kontakte, and 24 other characters (conductor, director, street-musician, performance-artist, action-painters, actors, lighting-designers, technicians, newspaper-hawker, cloakroom attendant, etc.). This became the Originale (Origins). Kontakte was performed for the first time by three young Hungarian musicians  at the Liszt Academy in June 2018,. We thought that using the experience and knowledge from this performance we can re-create the happening as well, with the participation of several enthusiastic artists. Therefore on this evening we will perform both pieces.
